Elyria Municipal Court Criminal Records
The Elyria Municipal Court is at 601 Broad Street, Elyria, OH 44035. The phone is 440-326-1800. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The court serves the cities of Elyria and North Ridgeville, the townships of Carlisle, Columbia, Eaton, Elyria, Grafton, and Lagrange, and the villages of Lagrange and Grafton.
The court provides online public record access through its Records and Payments portal. Since May 8, 2020, the court has used FIVEPOINTPAYMENTS for online payment processing and all credit card payments. You can view case status, make payments, check court schedules, and access general case information through the portal. The court keeps a professional staff of judges, magistrates, and clerks to ensure efficient case processing.
The court has detailed Local Rules on records management. Local Rule 14 says all records are retained according to the schedule in Rule 26 of the Supreme Court Rules of Superintendence or Ohio Revised Code 1901.41. Case files can be disposed of after the date of final entry once the file has been audited and electronically imaged. Minor misdemeanor traffic and criminal cases older than five years may be shredded without scanning. Non-misdemeanor cases kept longer than five years can be scanned then shredded.
